STAN AUSTIN

HAMPSTEAD -- Stan Austin, 62, went to be with his Lord Tuesday morning at his residence in Hampstead, N.C.
Born in McPherson, Kan., he was the son of the late Rex and Marjorie Peters Austin.
He was a graduate of Pembroke State University and the University of North Carolina of Chapel Hill.
He was an educator with Cumberland County Schools for more than 33 years before retiring to Hampstead, N.C.
While living in Fayetteville, N.C., Mr. Austin served as a deacon and cub scout master with Westminister Presbyterian Church.
Following retirement, his favorite times were spent with family and friends, as well as fishing and woodworking.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park of Goldsboro, with the Rev. Owen Carriker of Topsail Presbyterian Church of Hampstead, N.C., officiating.
Family members will greet friends following the service.
A memorial service will be held at Topsail Presbyterian Church in Hampstead, N.C., at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sally Crawford Austin; his son, Brian Austin of Hampstead; a brother, Douglas Austin of Fayetteville; and a sister, Carol Austin Delaney of Wilmington, Del.
