Wilkins "W.J." Williams Jr., 67, went to be with his Lord Monday, May 16, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. W.J. had a very special love for God and his family.
W.J. was born in Duplin County Nov. 9, 1943, to Naomi Andrews Williams and the late Wilkins Williams Sr.
He served his country in the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
W.J. had served as a Goldsboro police officer, and retired as a gas supervisor with the city of Goldsboro.
He was a member of Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church.
W.J.'s passion was golf, and if it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pete Radford officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
W.J. is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Womble Williams; his daughter, Shannon Weaver and husband, Vince, of Goldsboro; his son, Robbie J. Williams of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Dustin Weaver, Travis Weaver and fiancée, Jennifer Baker, and Zachary Weaver; his great-granddaughter, Jamie Baker; and was anticipating the birth of another great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Smith and Cheryl West both of Ashville, and his brother-in-law, Franklin Womble of Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Vince Weaver, 441 Weaver Road, Goldsboro.
