James Lloyd Herring, 83, of 110 Glenn Drive, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Herring was born Aug. 4, 1927, to the late Ben and Helena Highsmith Herring. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a mason, and past educator.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Donna Herring Moore of Goldsboro; a son, Michael West of Tennessee; one brother, William L. Herring (Lucille) of New York; one sister, Mary H. Wright of Wallace; and one grandson, Leron J. Moore.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
