EVANGELINE "PETE" PITTMAN BEDFORD

Evangeline "Pete" Pittman Bedford, 79, Belfast community, passed away Monday.
A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Annie Sauls Pittman.
Pete, as she was known by her many friends and family, was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Ladies Night Auxiliary.
Mrs. Bedford and her husband, the late Guy Bedford, owned and operated Family Shoe Store, which is celebrating 47 years in business.
A service to celebrate her life will be 7 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Barry Stallings officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Pikeville Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Phil Bedford and wife, Janice, of Goldsboro; brother, Donnie Pittman and wife, Patricia, of Winterville; sisters-in-law, Maude Pittman of Pikeville and Agnes Sullivan of Kenly; brothers-in-law, Charles Bedford and wife, Nancy, of Atlanta and Allen Bedford of Tampa, Fla.; and several special nieces and nephews. Even though Mrs. Bedford did not have grandchildren, she truly loved her granddogs, Abbi and Kassi.
Mrs. Bedford was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepmother, Gertie Pittman; sisters, Myrtle Raynor, Gladys Hinnant and Evelyn Barnes; and brother, William Claude Pittman Jr.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church, and at other times at the residence, 155 Princess Drive in the Belfast community.
