WILLIAM A. JOYNER

William "Bill" Albright Joyner, age 74, formerly of Trappers Wood Drive, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Burial will be held at New Garden Cemetery in Greensboro.

Mr. Joyner was born in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 12, 1935, to the late Jay Frank Joyner Sr. and Nina Louise Albright Joyner.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Frank Joyner Jr.

Bill attended schools in Greensboro, N.C., New Orleans, La., Tulane University in Louisiana, Loyolla University in Louisiana and Burbank School of Radio & TV Broadcasting in California.

His employers include LIGHT Ship Building in New Orleans, La., NASA Missile Program Records in Slidell, La., where he was a computer operator for 15 years, a radio announcer and audio engineer in Slidell, La., where he was known by his radio name, "Al Macey," and the U.S.A. Navy Reserve in New Orleans, La., for eight years.

Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Slidell, La.

Among his survivors are an uncle, the Rev. Fred Albright of Dunn (formerly of Rosewood); three nieces; a nephew; and cousins in Louisiana, North Carolina, Utah and Virginia.
