JOHNNY W. HEAD

Johnny Walter Head, 66, passed away Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be tonight at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie Weaver officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Johnny was born in Wayne County Jan. 22, 1944, to Cornelius Jackson Head and Laura Ginn Head.

He owned and operated A & K Grocery and Grill for more than 35 years. Johnny began his career working with Winn Dixie and had also delivered the News-Argus for more than 20 years.

Johnny got great pleasure in racing, attending antique car shows, boating and fishing. He will be remembered as a man that could fix anything and one who loved to cook for others.

After his retirement, he began working on small engines and packaging meats at his home.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Anderson Head; his children, Allan Head and Pam Stokes of Goldsboro, Katrina Head O'Brien and husband, Ed, of Mount Olive and Brandon Head and wife, Amy, of Pikeville; his five grandchildren, Michael O'Brien, Brittany O'Brien, Stanton Head, Abby Grace Head and Brayden Head; and a special friend, his dog, Cody.

Although Johnnny didn't have any brothers or sisters, he had a close relationship with his brothers and sisters-in-law, Adolph and Nellie Anderson, Durwood and Betty Lee Anderson, Kenneth and Betty Anderson, Kermit and Portia Anderson, Bill and Sheila Anderson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 and following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at his home.
