MOUNT OLIVE -- Michael Wayne Strickland, 55, 117 Dill St., died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with his brother, Dr. George Strickland, officiating.
Born in Mount Olive, he was the son of Ruby Strickland of Mount Olive and the late George B. Strickland and the brother of the late Charles Strickland.
Michael was employed with Georgia-Pacific for more than 22 years.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Carol Strickland; a son, Richard Strickland and wife, Nana, of Mount Olive; a daughter, Michelle Strickland Casey and husband, Keffer, of Mount Olive; five brothers, Melvin, Larry and Steve all of Mount Olive, George of Goldsboro and James Strickland of Lake George, Ga.; two sisters, Diane Smith and Carol Alvarado both of Mount Olive; four grandchildren, Hunter, Chelby and McKenzi Strickland and Connor Casey; and his longtime friend, Neal Powell of Mount Olive.
Family members will remain and greet friends at the funeral home following the service, and at other times will be at the home of his daughter, Michelle Casey, 202 Deen St. in Mount Olive.
