Melissa Gurley Sasser Williamson and her son, Garrett Brinson Williamson, 316 Salem Country Lane, passed away at Pitt Memorial Hospital Wednesday.
A service to celebrate the life of Melissa will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Williams and the Rev. Willard Hardison officiating. Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley.
Melissa was born in Wayne County Aug. 6, 1968, to Ralph and Dottie Gurley.
She was a graduate of Faith Christian Academy and Lenoir Community College.
Melissa worked at Cuts R Us with Pam Matthews.
She is survived by her husband, Billy R. Williamson; four children, T.J. Sasser (20), Kayla Sasser (18), Richard Sasser (12) and Elizabeth Sasser (6); her parents, Ralph and Dottie Gurley; a brother, Steve Gurley and his wife, Shanna Gurley; two nephews, Gabe Gurley and Nathan Gurley; and her paternal grandmother, Thelma Cline (94) of Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dave and Pauine Gurley, and her paternal grandfather, Marion W. Cline.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willard Hardison officiating.
