LAGRANGE -- Mildred Jones Carter, 90, went home to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday.
A service of remembrance will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Fowler officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
She was the daughter of the late Mark and Annie Rouse Jones.
She was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and word puzzles.
Mrs. Carter is survived by a son, Randall "Coon" Carter and wife, Rose, of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Donald Carter and wife, Tammy, Debbie Luppino and husband, Mike, Delores Foster and husband, Carl Jr., Sandra Nichols and husband, Michael, Shawn Carter and wife, Nicole, Stacie Whitley and husband, Keith, Susan Bigler and husband, Coburn, Michele Slavin and husband, Jason; 16 great-grandchildren, Brandon Ormond, Brittany Ormond, Joshua Ormond, Matthew Joyner, Kristen Joyner, Benny Gray, Megan Carter, Collin Carter, Miles Carter, Ray Bunn, Cassie Whitley, Gage Whitley, Hailey Bigler, Logan Bigler, Courtney Bostic and Spencer Bostic; a great-great grandchild, Conner Ormond; and a sister, Wilma Cooper and husband, Sonny, of Alabama.
Mildred was preceded in death by a son, Donald Carter, and two sisters, Ida Rouse and Melba Barfield.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rouse Funeral Home, and at other times they will be at the home of Randall and Rose Carter, 4926 Brothers Road in LaGrange.
