EUDELLE S. JERNIGAN

Mrs. Eudelle Sasser Jernigan, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jernigan was born in Wayne County on April 16, 1925, to the late Sam and Carrie S. Sasser. Along with her husband, Mrs. Jernigan lived in other communities where she was involved in many church and community activities. While living in Dunn, she was a member of the Dunn First Baptist Church, and while living in Mount Olive, she was a member of Mount Olive First Baptist Church, where she served proudly on the pulpit committee. After retiring, they moved to Goldsboro and became active members of Goldsboro First Baptist Church. Mrs. Jernigan will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Jernigan is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, Edward Lee Jernigan; their daughter, Joan Jernigan; her granddaughter, Dr. Amanda J. Wynn; her brother, Glenn Sasser of Rosewood; and her sister-in-law, Mildred Sasser of Nahunta. She is also survived by her extended family, the Jernigan family; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Hugh Sasser and Hubert Sasser; and her sisters, Retha Sasser and Letha Hare.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Jernigan to First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends today from 3 until 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
