PIKEVILLE -- Sammy Womble, 62, 135 Goodnight St., passed away Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be held tonight at 7 from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the residence. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Womble was born in Wayne County Oct. 27, 1947, to Frank Womble of Grantham and the late Ethel Bass Womble.
He was a past volunteer with Mar Mac Fire Department.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Lavonne Herring Womble; a son, Michael Lee Womble of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Danielle Casey and husband, James Douglas, of Pikeville; a brother, Frank Womble Jr. of Pikeville; a sister, Joan Williams and husband, W.J., of Grantham; and four grandchildren, Brian Scott Womble, Ashley Lynn Womble, Kristin Brooke Casey and Ryan Douglas Casey.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Womble is preceded in death by his son, Brian Ashley Womble.
