Darel Wayne Brown, 73, passed away Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with Charles Stackhouse officiating.
He was born in Sonoma, Calif., to the late Walter M. and Willie Mae McDonald Brown and was married to Marilyn Michaels Brown.
A retired master sergeant with the United States Air Force, he was a private pilot instructor and FAA examiner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Sue Brown of Olympia, Wash., and Lezley Anne and Gerry Kaady of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepsons, James Witt of Dudley and Leslie Witt of Chico, Calif.; four stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Stan Henderson of Minot, N.D., Beverly and Phil Esposito of Baldwin, N.Y., Donna and Jerry Gannon of Cambells Port, Wisc., and Lori and Kurt Crepps of Minot, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
