SEVEN SPRINGS -- Phillip George Marion Gibson, 65, passed away Thursday at his home.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Seven Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bryce Rouse and the Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Seven Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Phillip was born Oct. 10, 1944, in Bladen County to the late Rev. Orborn Gibson and Elma Lucille Cook Gibson.
Phillip was a master plumber and the owner/operator of Gibson Plumbing Co.
He was a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Phillip was an avid reader and enjoyed working in his yard.
Phillip is survived by six children, Kristin Brooke Gibson of Greenville, Carey Gibson and wife, Jennifer, of Wilmington, Phillip Gibson II and wife, Rhonda, of Kinston, Michelle Hall and husband, Chris, of Fayetteville, Tom Whaley and wife, Beverly, of Beaufort and Cindy Jones and husband, Pete, of Seven Springs; brother, Elmer Gibson of Newport News; sister, Janice Rouse of Kinston; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ward Gibson.
The family will receive friends Sunday following the service of remembrance and at other times they will be at the home of Cindy and Pete Jones, 659 Drummersville Road in Seven Springs.
