LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Rufus Sidney "Johnny" Johnson, 99, formerly of Lucama, died Tuesday.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.
He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and was a successful businessman in Washington, D.C., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He had operated an irrigation business in Pompano Beach, Fla., before moving to Lake City three years ago.
He is survived by nieces, Rebecca Watson and Jackie Bell of The Villages, Fla.; and nephews, Gary Johnson of Lake City, Fla., and Gerald Johnson of Pikeville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Williams Johnson.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive north in Wilson, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
