PIKEVILLE -- Beatrice Hagans Forte, 4611 U.S. 117 north, departed this life Monday at 6:15 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2261 Big Daddy's Road in Pikeville, with elder Dr. George Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery-south, 2925 U.S. 117 south in Goldsboro, NC 27530.
Beatrice was born in Wayne County July 16, 1918, to the late Jesse Hagans and Maggie Dickerson Hagans.
She was married to the late Jefferson Forte and to this union two children were born.
Mrs. Forte attended Wayne County Public schools. At an early age, she joined White Oak Grove Church and sang in the senior choir for many years.
She is a lifetime member of Norwayne Alumni and Friends Inc.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her son, Norwood Forte of the home; one sister, Lillian Brown of Goldsboro; one grandson, Morris Reid of Raleigh; three granddaughters, Lucy Ghalston of Goldsboro, Herlene Jones of Fremont and Francine Jones of Raleigh; one great-granddaughter, Michelle Reid of Greensboro; two great- grandsons, Danny Wells of Pikeville and Brian Reid of Mayfield, Ky.; her devoted caregivers, Alice Johnson, Rose Sutton and Leora Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, a sister, Irene Hagans; a brother, Jess Hagans; and her daughter, Sallye Beatrice Forte, whom God called home Jan. 25; predeceased Beatrice.
A public viewing will be held today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St. in Goldsboro. Also, a wake will be conducted tonight from 7 to 8 at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St. in Goldsboro.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Beatrice Forte, 4611 U.S. 117 north in Pikeville.
