Annie Virginia Hodges Jones, 152 Sandy Lane Road, departed this walk of life Friday at 3:45 p.m. at her home
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., with the Rev. Retha Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Eureka Cemetery, 122 N.C. 222 east in Eureka.
Annie was born in Eureka May 24, 1931, to the late Willie Isaac Hodges and Juanita Odessa Spence Hodges.
She attended Pikeville Training School in Pikeville.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late James Leslie Jones Nov. 5, 1949, and to this union two children were born. Charles Ray Jones preceded her in death.
She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, reading the Bible, working in the yard and helping people. She was deeply devoted to serving the Lord and sharing her faith with others.
Her daughter, Judy, was extremely dedicated and loving to her mother. She went above and beyond the call of duty in taking care of her.
She leaves to cherish loving memories; one daughter, Judy H. Hodges of the home; one son, James Isaac Jones and wife, Pauline, of Pikeville; six grandchildren, Timothy Spencer, Anita Yelverton, Shaun Jones, TaKisha Parker, Crystal Hodges and James Jones Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Quentin Yelverton, Devante Reece, Najel Rhodes and Trumendous Jones; two sisters, Henrietta Harper and husband, Ezekiel, and Gladys Harper both of Goldsboro; one sister-in-law and six brothers-in-law; two nieces, Gladys Hunter and Paulette Uzzell; two nephews, Paul Harper Jr. and John Fitzgerald Harper; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held Saturday one hour prior to the funeral from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St. in Goldsboro.
At other times the family will receive friends at the residence of Judy Hodges, 152 Sandy Lane Road in Goldsboro.
