SUMTER, S.C. -- Alleene W. Cruz, 74, beloved wife of 58 years of Joseph R. Cruz, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Private memorial services will be held.
She is survived locally by a loving daughter, Demitria Ruth Castro and her husband, Thomas, of Pikeville; and a granddaughter, Jenifer Christene Cruz of Pikeville.
In lieu of visitors and flowers, the family requests those wishing to direct memorial contributions in Alleene's memory to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210, or to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29204.
