JAMES D. HART

SNOW HILL -- James Delma Hart, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Turlington and the Rev. Tom Dorman officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hart was a lifelong resident of the Shine Community born Aug. 2, 1929, to the late Johnnie B. and Celia Howell Hart.
He was a licensed contractor and co-owner of Head and Hart Contractors with his lifelong friend, Lem "Jimmy" Head.
He was an active member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and formerly in the capacities of Sunday school superintendent and choir and music director. He was a founding member of the Brotherhood Men's Fellowship. His greatest joy was singing gospel music for almost 60 years. He was a member of the Gospel Trio, The Hart Family and The Renewed Harts.
He is survived by his wife, Ann E. Harper Hart; children, Karen H. Wiggins and husband, Horace, Pamela D. Hart, Connie D. Hart, Delma Ann Newsome and James Delma Hart, II; sisters, Verna H. Vaughan, Mary H. Tripplett and Helen H. Hill and husband, Envid; grandchildren, William "Will" H. Quinn III, Liza S. Hill, Mandy Smith, Nikki Newsome and Dylan Newsome; and a great-grandchild, Ashley M. Littleton.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Kevin Hart, and a brother, J.B. Hart Jr.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
