FLORENCE A. GREGORY
Died Feb. 20, 2009
Florence A. Gregory, 77, passed away Friday afternoon in Richmond, Va.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with pastor Bill Wilson and the Rev. Charles Kirkland officiating. Interment will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 at Seymour Funeral Home.
Florence haled from Lancashire, England, the daughter of Hamlet and Lily Molyneaux. She married Elmo Gregory, a veteran of World War II, on Jan. 7, 1950, and began her travels overseas and stateside throughout their life together before settling in Goldsboro in 1959.
Florence began her family of Stephen, Philip and David, whom she named after the men of the Bible. She was a spiritual woman who never strayed off course and has left with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren a respect and knowledge of the Lord. Florence was a charter member of the first, First Assembly of God in Goldsboro and worshiped throughout in the Pentecostal ministries and at The Lord's Table.
Florence always was a helper, a vessel for the child and for the aged. She retired from Cherry Hospital in the geriatric unit as an occupational therapist and was previously at O'Berry Center, where she loved and cared for the disadvantaged. There cannot be enough said about Florence's work ethic and caring for others.
Cherishing her memory are brothers and sisters-in-law, Geoffry and Bridie, Malcolm and Annette, Ronnie and Bettie, and David and Julie Molyneaux and their children and grandchildren. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jeanette and husband, Marty Waters, April Gregory and fiancé, Chris Franklin, Rachael and husband, Wess Rainy, Matthew, Jared, Eric, Aaron, Lukas Gregory; great-grandchildren Colton and Gavin Waters; and daughters-in-law Cory, Peggy and Kay Gregory.
Ma is at rest with the Lord and has gone unto glory. Her calling and her faith beckons us all to know and find our creator.
Arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
