Mrs. Ronetta McDuffie Stephens, 78, affectionately known by her family and close friends as "Mama," 1911 Peachtree St., Apt. A, entered into eternal rest Thursday at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Saint Mark Church of Christ, 700 W. Ash St., with Minister Otis Isler officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, 425 Martin Luther King Expressway. A viewing will be held Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., from 1 to 8 p.m. A wake will be held Tuesday at Hamilton Funeral Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. with the family present to receive other family members and friends.
Mrs. Ronetta was born on June 18, 1930, in Duplin County to the late Levie and Halie McDuffie.
She was educated in the Duplin County Public School system.
Ronetta was married to James L. Stephens, who preceded her in death.
Mama leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories five daughters, Ms. Rose Butler, with whom she lived, Ms. Patricia McCoy, Ms. Irene Teachey, Ms. Janet Miller, all of Goldsboro, and Ms. Mildred Posey of Waldorf, Md.; two sons, Mr. George McCoy Jr. and wife, JoAnn of Richmond, Va., and Mr. Johnny McDuffie of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three special friends, Mrs. Lavonza King, Mrs. Maggie Forte and Mr. Hugh Bryant, all of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of the Ms. Rose Butler, 1911 Peachtree St., Apt. A, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
