Gene Douglas Lewis, 69, of Wilson, died Friday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery, Fremont. The Rev. Kem Lancaster will officiate.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Eloise A. Lewis; three daughters, Mary Ellen Reason and husband, Bootsie, of Black Creek, Kaye Barnes and husband, Billy, of Fremont and Teresa Lynne Barnes of Black Creek; son-in-law, William Ray Barnes of Lucama; five grandchildren, Tonya Smith, Christy Ramirez, Brandon Barnes, John Kirk Barnes and Gena Barnes; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eunice Colclough of Rosewood, Juanita Boyette of Kinston, Daphne Faircloth of Newport and Sara Schult of Knightdale, and a brother, Rudolph Lewis of Rosewood.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kirk Douglas Lewis; his parents, Bert Vonue Lewis and Thelma Benton Lewis; four sisters, Gladys Bass, Jeddie Edwards, Edith Wilson and Janet Johnson; two brothers, Charles Lewis and Royce Lewis.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service today evening at the funeral home and other times at 6471 Slabtown Road, Wilson.
