CRECIA O. ROGERSON
March 23, 1922-Feb. 8, 2009
Mrs. Crecia O'Neal Rogerson, 86, of Kenly, died Sunday morning.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Minshew-Coley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pope Family Cemetery.
She was born in Johnston County on March 23, 1922, to the late J. Will and Myrtie Starling O'Neal. Known fondly as Mama, Granny, and Miss Crecia, she loved life and lived it fully. She had a sharp mind, quick wit, and ready laugh.
A graduate of Atlantic Christian College, she taught briefly before deciding to work hand-in-hand with her husband, J.E., in a farming, merchant, and milling business that was the hub of the community. They were a striking couple with their black hair, his vivid blue eyes and her deep brown ones. Tragically, their first child, Crecia Jane, died while J.E. was serving in Germany during World War II.
Along with her favorite role as wife and mother, she was active in the Farm Bureau women, Johnston County Extension Homemakers' Club, PTA, Democratic Women, 4-H and Girl Scouts; and supported J.E. in his many community services. She will be deeply missed by her children, brothers, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many neighbors who were like family. Mrs. Rogerson was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist and actively attended Upper Black Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children, Ellen Boyette and husband, Donnie, Ann Weaver and husband, Johnny, James Rogerson and Nancy Faber and husband, Al; grandchildren, Crecia Morris, Jamie Ragan and husband, Brian, Deborah Blizzard and husband, Doodle, Susan Tyler, Nathalia Faber, Will Faber, Justin Rogerson, and Janna Rogerson; great-grandchildren, Kristen Tyler, Ashton and Auston Blizzard, Cole and Greyson Ragan; brothers, Johnny O'Neal, Robin O'Neal and wife, Shirley, Pat O'Neal and wife, Dorothy; sisters-in-law, Esther Rogerson Davis, Reva O'Neal and Lou O'Neal; stepgrandchildren, John Weaver, Scott Weaver and Kelvin Boyette; stepgreat-grandchildren, Beth, Johnny, Belle Weaver and Jasper Weaver, Carson Boyette, and Grayson Boyette; numerous nieces and nephews; and "adopted" son and daughter, Rudy and June Jones.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday for one hour prior to service and other times at Mrs. Rogerson's home, 2538 Piney Grove Church Road, Kenly, N.C.
Memorial contributions may be made to, Johnston County Education Foundation, J.E. and Crecia Rogerson Family Scholarship, P.O. Box 1075, Smithfield, N.C., 27577.
