Mrs. Carolyn Faye Ford McDuffie, 60, of 1703 Stephens St., Goldsboro, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Kitty Atkins Hospice Center, Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1314 Ben Brewington Court, Goldsboro, with Elder James Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 2314 Martin Luther King Blvd., Goldsboro. A viewing will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro.
Carolyn was born Aug. 16, 1948 in Wayne County to the late Devie Ford Sr. and Reba Wade Ford.
Carolyn Faye Ford took Lonnie McDuffie Jr. to be her lawful wedded husband on May 11, 1973. They celebrated 34 years of matrimony. Carolyn leaves to carry on her legacy three sons, Reginald Ford and Jermaine McDuffie (who never allowed her to spend a night alone in the hospital); Damion Jermaine McDuffie (grandson who she adopted); one loving and devoted daughter, Tameka McDuffie Wooten and husband, Antonio, who carried her to all of doctor's appointments and treatments; nine grandchildren, LaToya Williams, Demetrius Kornegay, Jereemie McDuffie (who she raised), DeCarlos McDuffie; her three "darlin's" Khadijah, Kemiya and I'mani; a "daughter from another mother," Jacqueline P. Ford of Chicago, Ill.; a loving and caring niece, Teri Knighton, a niece, Shawnette Haynes, who lived with her; a surrogate granddaughter, Tiffini Cole; two sisters, Virginia Knighton and Joyce Young of Goldsboro; two brothers, Kenneth Ford and wife, Mary, and Bennie Ford and wife, Joyce, of Goldsboro; a devoted and loving sister and brother-in-law, Eddie and Leola Gordon of Goldsboro; "her friend and road dog," Regina Holloway; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A wake will be conducted from 4 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, with the family present to receive other family members and friends. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. Lonnie McDuffie Jr., 1703 Stephens St., Goldsboro.
