RUTH B. LANCASTER

FREMONT -- Ruth Bartlett Lancaster, 91, 400 Stan-Ray Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Dec. 8 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Lancaster was born in Wayne County on Sept. 18, 1917, to the late Joshua and Mamie Bartlett.
She was a member of Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for over 70 years where she had served as the Secretary and Treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Lancaster was a very active church member while her health permitted and was a dedicated visitor in the community.
She is survived by one son, Earl Lancaster and his wife, Mary of Pikeville; three daughters, Joyce Stallings and her husband, Nathan of Pikeville, Frances Evans and her husband, Johnny of Stantonsburg and Mamie Chase and her husband, Jesse of Fremont; nine grandchildren, Glenn Lancaster and his wife, Kem, William Stallings and his wife, Shirley, Jeff Stallings and his wife, Tammy, Myra Johnson and her husband, Doug, Eddie Evans and his wife, Lynne, Jay Evans and his wife, Shannon, Cathy Bridges and her husband, Grady, Randy Chase and his wife, Scarlet and Greg Chase and his wife, Myla; 15 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lancaster was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. "Bill" Lancaster; one infant son, J.T. Lancaster; and four brothers.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the residence. Homegoing services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro with the Rev. Joe Strouse and the Rev. James Gurkins officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
