RALEIGH -- Mrs. Marie Poole Rouse, 83, of Raleigh and formerly of LaGrange, died Thursday night, Nov. 13, 2008, at Duke Raleigh Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Karl Grant officiating.
Mrs. Rouse was born July 13, 1925, in Lenoir County to the late H.G. and Zuba Barker Poole. She was the wife of the late Rev. Jere A. Rouse.
Mrs. Rouse graduated from Woodard Herring Hospital School of Nursing in Wilson, N.C., and worked as a registered nurse with Lenoir and Wayne Memorial hospitals. She later worked in private practice with Dr. Jean Smith and retired as a food stamp specialist with Lenoir County. Mrs. Rouse was a member of LaGrange United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rouse is survived by a daughter, Virginia Henderson Richardson and husband, Michael Edward Richardson, of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Candace Marie Chitsaz and husband, Jacob, of Raleigh, Frances Michelle Reichenbach and husband, Don, of Charlotte, David Waylon Richardson and wife, Michelle Leigh, of Raleigh; three great-grandchildren, Ava Marie Chitsaz, Lia McKenzie Reichenbach and Tristan Michael Reichenbach; and a brother, Glenn Norwood Poole of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elinor Gray Potter.
