Esther Ashford, 60, of 134 Ward St., Rita Pines Subdivi-sion, Dudley, died Wednesday in Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Faith Pres-byterian Church, 2114 Berkeley Blvd., Golds-boro, with the Rev. Antonio Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in the Wynn Cemetery in Mount Olive.
The daughter of the late Mary Greenfield Hall, she was born in Wayne County on May 31, 1948. She attended Wayne County Public Schools and graduated from Dillard High School in 1966.
She was united in marriage with the love of her life, Reginald Ashford Sr. Together they pursued several entrepreneurial endeavors, including Ashford's Daycare, which they operated for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Reginald Ashford Sr.; one son, Reginald Ashford Jr.; two daughters, Mable Mechelle Ashford and Valerie Ashford; five grandchildren, Marquail Ashford, Brittany Ashford, DeJon Forbes, Ahmad Dickerson and Vivica Ashford; one great-grandchild, Narij'ah Davis; two sisters, Minnie Gillis and Marion Lane, both of Goldsboro; one brother, Hugh Hall of Florida; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hall of Dudley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her brother, John Hall Jr., and two sons, Wallace Bernard Ashford and Michael Ashford.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 134 Ward St., Rita Pines Subdivision, Dudley, where they will also assemble for the funeral procession.
