JAMES E. GRADY JR.

RALEIGH -- James Earl Grady Jr., 66, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Road, Cary. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Macedonia United Methodist Church. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Summerlin Family Cemetery in Mount Olive.
Born on June 25, 1942, in Duplin County, he was the eldest son of the late James and Mildred Summerlin Grady.
Jim graduated from N.C. State with a degree in Civil Engineering and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation in 2001 as a State Pavement Engineer. He recently was serving as a consultant and instructor for the NCDOT Construction Unit.
He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and was active with Methodist Men. He enjoyed fishing, golf, yard work and spending time at Topsail Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Brenda Wiggins Grady; son, Christopher Grady of Raleigh; daughters, Tana Tackett of Cherokee, Donna Fields of Fayetteville and Betsy Register of Hampstead; six grandchildren; brothers, Bennie Grady and wife, Michele of Faison, Dwight Grady of Hartsville, S.C., Jerry Grady and wife Billie Carol of Mount Olive and Steve Grady and wife Betty Lou of Mount Olive; and by other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 2700 Jones Franklin Road, Cary, N.C., 27518.
Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary and Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive.
