EDNA MAE B. JENKINS
Died Sept. 8, 2008
Edna Mae Barnes Jenkins, 87, died Monday.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fremont United Methodist Church followed by a time of visiting and sharing. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery beside her late husband, Hugh Powell Jenkins Jr.
She was a native of Fremont and current resident of Manassas, Va., where she died. Her mother was the late Nettie Davis Barnes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Barnes.
After marriage to Hugh Jenkins, she moved from UNC-Chapel Hill to California where for many years she worked as a federal government audio visual specialist and wrote travel articles for Sunset Magazine and Westways.
Surviving is her daughter, Karen J. Schlienz of Manassas, Va.; grandchildren, Glenn, Nicole, Kaitlin, Kasey and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Courtney; brother, Bud Barnes of Richmond, Va.; and other relatives in the Fremont community.
The family will be at 206 S. Vance St., Fremont on Saturday.

Arrangements are being handled by Wilson Memorial Service.
