NATHANIEL LEWIS

Funeral services for Mr. Nathaniel Lewis will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church the Rev. Donovan Washington officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Old Mill Cemetery.
Nathaniel "Sam" Lewis was born on July 17, 1947, to the late Amaziah Lewis Sr. and Sevelia Lewis in Goldsboro. He departed this life on Friday, July 18, 2008, at his home in Paterson, N.J.
Nathaniel was a graduate of the class of 1965 from Central High School. Upon his graduation, he relocated to Washington, D.C., and was employed at Soldiers Home Hospital for several years. In 1968 he joined the army and served his country during the Vietnam War. Nathaniel was a professional truck driver for 36 years for various companies.
In 1970 he met the former Doris Wooten and they were married on July 7, 1973. After seven years of marriage, they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Jeremy and Jared Lewis. They then relocated to Paterson, N.J., and began their journey of life together.
Nathaniel was preceded in death by his elder brother, Elbert Earl Lewis and eldest sister, Vernell Bracey.
Nathaniel "Sam" will always remain in the memory of his loved ones; his wife, Doris Wooten Lewis of the home; two sons, Jeremy Lewis and Jared Lewis of the home; seven sisters, Lue Jean Wright, Teresa Artis, and Marchell Lewis all of Dudley; Margie and Raphael Bizzell; Frances and Ricky Wooten; and Vera Oscar Lofton, all of Goldsboro.
He is also survived by Queenie and Albert Rein-hardt, of Paterson, N.J.; three brothers, Amaziah and Fannie Lewis Jr. of LaGrange; Leroy and Lois Lewis, of Clayton and John E. Lewis of Fort Washington, Md.; sister-in-law, Mildred Lewis of Goldsboro; four aunts, Martha Richardson, Emma Jones, Daisy and Nathaniel Ford, all of Goldsboro, and John L Cox of Parkstown; two uncles, Lawyer and Carrie Lewis of Goldsboro, and William and Shirley Lewis of Temple Hills, Md.
He also leaves behind three devoted friends, Walter Fields, Bobby Huffin, and Leroy Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a wake held on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends at the home of his sister 208 Ward St., Dudley.
Arrangements are being handled by Rhodes Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
