DOROTHY BAILEY
Died June 14, 2008
Dorothy "Numpy" Bailey, 73, 1402 E. Walnut St., was born to the late Maggie Best and Harold Cobb in Wayne County, N.C. She departed this earthly life Saturday, June 14, 2008.
The funeral will be held Friday, June 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Church Ministries, 323 Whitfield Drive, in Goldsboro, N.C. Burial will be in Old Mill Cemetery.
Dorothy attended Central High School. She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Church Ministries for more than 20 years. Dorothy was a former choir member and she loved her church family very much.
Dorothy was a true nurturer, extending love and care to many beyond her own home to include Kavara Miller, Roderick White, Tashombi Bailey, Urika "Kim" Bailey, Brandon Jones, Akeyliah Crawford and Dajia Gardner.
She was a former employee of O'Berry Center for 20 years. She was also a "huge" University of North Carolina Tar Heel fan.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 53 years, James Bailey; her children, Deborah White, Rodney (Debra) Bailey, Pamela (Robyn) Golphin, James (En) Bailey Jr. and Karen (Steffon) Knox. She is also survived by a brother, Gene Autry White.
She also leaves to cherish her memories 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Callie Bell Wooten and Mary Bell.
A viewing will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home, 708 S. Slocumb St., in Goldsboro
