Mr. Willie Edward Ward, age 67, lovingly known by his family and friends as "Willie," 303 Wood St., Goldsboro, N.C., died Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Saints Delight United Holy Church, 976 LaGrange Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551, with the Vice Bishop Richard Artis officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mill Cemetery, 3618 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents; Simon and Mamie Ward, and two sisters, Mamie Davis and Annie Fuller.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Thelma Kornegay Clark Ward of the home; one son, Tony E. Ward; one daughter, Prentiss Ward; seven sisters, Edna Smith, Christine Lewis, Bernice Mills, Lucy Farmer, Mary Ward, Esther Worthy and Inez Rouse; three brothers, Simon Jr., Joe and James Ward; three aunts, Geraldine Hawthorne, Elder Lillie Johnson and Martha Savage; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be conducted Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St. Goldsboro, N.C. Also, a wake will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. with the family in attendance to receive other family members and friends.
