JAMES D. BITTING

Retired Chief Master Sgt. James Bitting died at Britthaven of Goldsboro Sunday May 11, at the age of 76.
Services will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
He was born in Maryville, Pa., to the late George and Minnie Bitting of Maryville, Pa. He was drafted in 1952 and joined the Air Force and served 281/2 years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Frank Bitting; his daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Patrick Oswalt of Washington, N.C.; his son, retired Lt. Col. James Jr. of Savannah, Ga.; his grandson, Davis Oswalt of North Carolina State University; granddaughters, Jamie Nichole and Jessica Carol Bitting of Guyton, Ga.; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mary Bitting of Lemoyne, Pa.; sister-in-law, Faye Bitting of Manor Care Camp Hill, Pa.; Larry and Barbara Peters of Duncannon, Pa.; Ann Maismore of Middletown, Pa.; Emma Noel of Perry Village New Bloomfield, Pa.; Howard and Marlis Frank of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces and nephews of Camp Hill, Pa., and Butler, Pa.
Jim formerly worked at Crawford Appliances on Ash Street.
