MOUNT OLIVE -- Eula Mae Hymel Weeks, 82, died Thursday in Falls Church, Va.
A native of the Lake Arthur area of Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Eucrelia R. Hymel and was the widow of M. Ellis Weeks Sr., retired Mount Olive postmaster. She was also the mother of the late Carolyn Weeks Kalamajka and sister of the late Allen Hymel.
She is survived by two sons, Martin Ellis Weeks Jr. of Mount Olive, and Richard Weeks of Mont Claire, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Weeks Igoe and Billy Igoe of Greenville; another son-in-law, Dave Kalamajka of Rocky Mount; a sister, Dorothy Hymel Fletcher of Lake Arthur, La.; seven grandchildren, Ryan Weeks, Brad Weeks, Jonathan Weeks, Martin Ellis Weeks III and wife, Andrea, Brandy Weeks, Scott Igoe and Stephen Igoe; two great-grandchildren, Michael Anthony Sistrunk and Hailey Elizabeth Weeks; and two step-grandchildren, Cary Kalamajka and Brian Kalamajka.
A funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mount Olive, with Father Jim Garneau presiding. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. At other times, friends may call at the residence at 214 E. John St. in Mount Olive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Carolyn Weeks Kalamajka Memorial Scholarship, Edgecombe Community College, 2009 W. Wilson St., Tarboro, N.C. 27886.
