FITZHUGH M. PIERCE
Died April 1, 2008
Fitzhugh Melvin Pierce, 72, of 143 U.S. 13 South, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
Born in Pender County, he was the son of Eula Mae Foss Pierce of Leland, N.C., and the late Bryant Hen-ry Pierce. He also was preceded in death by two sons, James Pierce and Danny Ray Pierce. He attended Love Memorial Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Toler and the Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Eula Mae Pierce; three sons, William Pierce of Rocky Point, Elton Pierce and Alton Pierce, both of Leland; two daughters, Teresa Ann Harrelson of Fremont, Sandra Mae Ridlehoover of Lexington, S.C.; a brother, W.T. Pierce of Odgen; a sister, Eva Mae Shingleton of Hampstead; several grandchildren and several great- grandchildren.
Family members will greet friends Wednesday night from 7 until 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of Melissa Blackburn, 202 Westfield St., Goldsboro, N.C.
