LOIS CREECH SUTTON
July 31, 1924-March 20, 2008
SEVEN SPRINGS -- Lois Creech Sutton, 83, long-time resident of the Outlaw's Bridge community, died early Thursday morning at SunBridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the daughter of the late Larkin and Zillie Woodard Creech of Princeton. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1943, and was a former member of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Princeton.
In 1946, she married William G. "Bill" Sutton of Seven Springs. They moved to the Outlaw's Bridge section of Duplin County where they raised their family. She worked on the lunchroom staff at B.F. Grady School for several years. She began work at Albain Shirt Factory in Kinston in 1959 as a button sewer and later became a supervisor, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Outlaw's Bridge Universalist Church, their Association of Universalist Women and the Pricetown VFD Ladies Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her loving, caring nature. She was also a wonderful cook as the many lucky people in the Wayne-Duplin-Lenoir area can attest, who sampled her birthday and wedding cakes, chicken pastry and Chocolate Delights.
Visitation will be held at Outlaw's Bridge Universalist Church, 4408 N N.C. Highway 111, Seven Springs, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Barry Whittemore officiating. Entombment will follow at the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of Linda and Woody Jones, 3999 N.C. Highway 111 N, Albertson.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Linda Sutton Jones and her husband, Woody, of Albertson; her son, Rodney Sutton and his wife, Dr. Jennie Barnhardt, of Marshall, N.C.; four grandchildren; Anissa J. Tolbert and her husband, Zack, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Marty Jones of Anchorage, Alaska, Clay and Kelsey Sutton of Marshall, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Cooper Tolbert of Murfreesboro, Tenn. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ross Sutton and his wife, Bernice, of Goldsboro; two sisters-in-law, Delia Creech of Princeton, Annie Lois Sutton of Mount Olive; many nieces and nephews; and her friends and the staff at SunBridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Bill Sutton; two brothers, Herbert and Franklin Creech; and a sister, Nancy Creech, all of Princeton.
