EMMA C. SMITH

Emma Cole Smith, 87, of 273 Church of God Road, died Thursday at Britthaven Nursing Home in Snow Hill.
Mrs. Smith was born in Duplin County to the late Harvey Cole and Annie Inez Chestnut Cole and was married to the late John Clifton Smith. She had worked as a sales clerk for Weil's Department Store for 35 years. Mrs. Smith was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Anne Gray of Snow Hill; her son, Gary Cole Smith and wife, Ann, of Kinston; her sister, Edna Waters of Chapel Hill; three grandchildren, Lisa Grant and husband, Roger, of Snow Hill, Tammy Chavis and husband, Ricky, of Fayetteville, Brandi Smith and husband, Brad, of Raleigh; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Grant, Deric Grant and Jennifer Chavis.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of her daughter, Anne Gray, 71 Bradford Lane, Snow Hill.
