RUTH PORTER SAINT-AMAND
July 31, 1921-March 4, 2008
ROCKY MOUNT -- Ruth Porter Saint-Amand, 86, died peacefully on Tuesday. Born in Pender County, N.C., she was predeceased by her husband, J.E. "Jimmy" Saint-Amand. She was a longtime member and devoted parishioner of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, where she also served as pre-school teacher for many years.
Mrs. Saint-Amand is survived by her three children, Jim Saint-Amand and his wife, Gayle, of Mount Olive, N.C., Nancy Holt and her husband, Tom, of Fayetteville, N.C., Champ Saint-Amand and his wife, Sylvia, also of Fayetteville. She leaves five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her sister, Edie Williams, and two brothers, Pete and Cork Porter, all of Currie, N.C., also survive her.
A visitation will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rocky Mount, Thursday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Rocky Mount, officiated by the Rev. George Greer. A graveside service will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, N.C., at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Ruth Saint-Amand Pre-School Scholarship Fund, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 301 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C. 27804.
