SHARON BASS ROYAL

Sharon Bass Royal, 60, died at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Monday.
Mrs. Royal was born in Fayetteville, N.C., to the late Robert Fulton Bass and Lucille Parker Bass. She moved to Goldsboro in 1971 with her husband, Arthur Douglass Royal Jr.
She was a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, a Masters in English Education and a Masters of School Administration. She taught at Goldsboro High School and Wayne Community College. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Royal was the director of Wayne Community College's writing center as well as an English instructor. Mrs. Royal was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Goldsboro Junior Woman's Club.
Mrs. Royal is preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Royal is survived by her husband, Arthur Douglass Royal Jr.; two daughters, Christine Royal Dubrowsky of Goldsboro and Austin Elaine Royal of Holly Springs; her son-in-law, James Michael Dubrowsky and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Moore Dubrowsky; two sisters, Gloria Jean Howard and her husband, Wayne, of Fayetteville, Connie Lorraine Bass of Wilmington; one brother, Robert Gary Bass of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and her sister-in-law, April Royal Bissette and her husband, Edward, of Clinton. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles as well as three nieces, three nephews, seven great-nieces and three great-nephews.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. The service will be at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at 2 p.m. followed by a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 200 N. James St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.
