MARY BARBOUR BAREFOOT

DUNN -- Mary Barbour Barefoot, 89, of 696 Fayetteville Highway, went to her eternal reward Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, following a lengthy period of declining health. She was the last surviving child of the late Robert E. and Sallie Keene Barbour and the widow of Willard "Sam" Barefoot.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Robert's Grove Free Will Baptist Church of which she was a faithful member, with her pastor the Rev. Fred Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Barefoot is survived by a son, Gary Fenton Barefoot of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Gene C. Honeycutt of Roseboro; a grandson and his wife, Chad and Martha Honeycutt, and a great-grandson, Clay Honeycutt of Roseboro. Her faithful pet, "D.J." also survives. In addition, she leaves several devoted nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Grace and Geraldine Barbour, as well as a host of neighbors and church friends whom she loved dearly and whom she treated to good things from her kitchen, as long as she was able. She was affectionately referred to as "Aunt" Mary and "Ma" Mary.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the West and Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove, and other times at her home.
Memorials may be made to the Willard and Mary Barbour Barefoot Library Endowment at Mount Olive College, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365; the Building Fund of Robert's Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 725 Robert's Grove Road, Dunn, N.C. 28334; the Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or to one's favorite charity.
