LAGRANGE -- Lenston Whitfield Sr., 78, of 183 Budd Fields Road, died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, N.C.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Greater St. John F.W.B. Church, 613 Mitchell Road, Dudley, N.C. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange, N.C. Elder Johnnie Wade will officiate.
Mr. Whitfield is survived by his wife, Retha Mae Whitfield of the home; seven sons, Lenston Whitfield Jr. and wife, Jean, Charles Whitfield and wife, Juanita, Kenneth R. Whitfield and wife, Annie Mae, Leon Whitfield and wife, Sharonda, all of Goldsboro, Darnell Whitfield and wife, JoAnn, of Kinston, Mac Whitfield and wife, Ann, of Pink Hill, Ira Jay Whitfield of LaGrange; 36 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nine sisters, Hoppie B. Waters, Reatha Edwards, Darris Bizzell, Janice Bizzell, Annie Doris Bizzell, Brenda Manley, Edna Jean Summers, Jackie Martin, Mamie L. Weeks; seven brothers, Claude C. Bizzell, Robert Bizzell, Jimmy Donnell Bizzell, Lindsay Ray Bizzell, Dual Wayne Bizzell, Ronnie Bizell, Robin Bizzell; one aunt, Mamie Lofton; one uncle, Garfield Bizzell Sr.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The body may be viewed Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, N.C., with the family receiving friends there from 7 to 8 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Lenston and Jean Whitfield, 306 Pineland Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., where they will also assemble one hour prior to the funeral.
