PASTOR J. CARLIE HINNANT

Pastor J. Carlie Hinnant, 77, of 296 Saulston Road, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Royal Franklin Hinnant and Ella Best Hinnant and the husband of Burnice Gurley Hinnant.
Pastor Hinnant was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, as well as Bob Jones University. A retired Independent Baptist Church minister, Pastor Hinnant taught at Goldsboro Christian School and Faith Christian Academy. He was the principal at Lifegate Christian Academy in Chicod, N.C., and taught at Wilson Christian Academy in Wilson. Pastor Hinnant served as pastor at Carolina Beach Community Church, Carolina Beach, Abingdon Bible Church and Emmanuel Baptist Church in Abingdon, Va., Truth Baptist Church in Pine Level and Temple Baptist Church in Pikeville. He also served as Interim Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church and Freedom Baptist Church of Goldsboro. Pastor Hinnant was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Goldsboro.
In addition to his wife, Pastor Hinnant is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Anne and Corey Drotzur; son and daughter-in-law, James and Carlie "Jim" and Brenda Parnell Hinnant Jr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Hinnant; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Greg and Ashley Drotzur, Brad and Cheryl Hinnant and Christopher Drotzur; as well as two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Billy Howell; four brothers-in-law, John William Gurley and his wife, Peggy, Thomas Gurley, Horace Gurley and Jesse Ray Gurley and his wife, Ann.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Hinnant.
Funeral will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Freedom Baptist Church, with Pastor David Jackson officiating. Committal services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday night following the service at Freedom Baptist Church, and at other times at the residence.
