GREENVILLE -- Danny McNeil "Neil" Johnson, 41, passed away Wednesday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Neil was a native of Greene County and a member of Jerusalem United Metho-dist Church in Snow Hill. A volunteer fireman, Neil was a member of the Fort Run Fire Department for many years where he served as Chief. Since moving to Greenville he had joined the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department and also worked part time with EastCare as an EMT. Neil was a Lieutenant with the N.C. Department of Corrections' Greene Correc-tional Center in Maury.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Free Gospel P.F.W.B. Church in Snow Hill. The Rev. Al Sullivan will officiate the service and funeral honors will be rendered by the N.C. Department of Corrections Honor Guard.
Neil is survived by his wife, Sandy N. Johnson; children, Brittany Johnson, Caila Johnson, Casson Goldsmith and Corbin Goldsmith, all of Greenville; mother, Wanda B. Cameron and husband, Don, of Sanford; father, Danny Johnson and wife, Janice, of Snow Hill; paternal grandparents, Cornelius and Martha Johnson of Snow Hill; maternal grandmother, Elma Grey Barwick of Seven Springs; brothers, Allen Johnson and wife, Michelle, of Seven Springs and Jay Tyson and wife, Mary, of Farmville; nieces and nephews, Seth Johnson, Sydney Johnson, Chelsea Tyson, Anna Tyson and Katie Tyson; and in-laws, Danny and Rita Kissam of Harrells.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Saturday and other times at the home, 1055 Teakwood Drive, Greenville, N.C. The family will also be receiving friends at the home of his paternal grandparents, 2111 Fort Run Road, Snow Hill, N.C.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Neil's memory to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
