Johnnie Morris Brown Sr., also known to many of his friends as "Slim," 65, departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro.
Johnnie was born in Wayne County to the late Leamond Brown and Mattie Bell Sampson Brown Sutton. He retired after 30 years of service at Cherry Hospital.
The family will receive friends at their home, 215 N. Virginia St., Goldsboro.
Funeral will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at 1 p.m. from the L.N. Forbes Original F.W.B. Tabernacle, 1800 South East Lane St., Wilson, with the Elder George E. Wiggins, presiding. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro. Also, an inspirational wake will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, Nov. 4, 2007, at the White Oak Grove O.F.W.B. Church, 3261 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, with the family present to receive friends and other family members. Interment will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Goldsboro.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Evangelist Doretha Edmundson Brown of the home; two daughters, Karen Brown-Kornegay of the home and Myra T. Brown of Goldsboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie Morris and Candice Brown II of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley Bass and Lois and Ervin Coley; two nieces and a nephew-in-law, Elenor Brown and Barbara and Larry Miller, all of Goldsboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
