RONNIE ALLEN SUTTON
Died Oct. 30, 2007
HOOKERTON -- Ronnie Allen Sutton, 42, died Tuesday at home. On Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, we were forced to say goodbye to a beautiful soul. For 22 years Sgt. Ronnie Allen Sutton with the Kinston Police Department bravely battled cancer, and sadly he has lost the fight.
He never gave up and he never gave in, he faced each day with God in his heart and a smile on his face. He was filled with pride for his job, love of his friends and family and enthusiasm for life. He left us way too soon and will not be forgotten. The comfort and support we had from all of our friends and family allowed Ronnie to keep pushing on, he got his strength from those he loved.
Ronnie was lucky to have two kinds of family in his life, his blood relatives and his brothers and sisters with the Kinston Police Department. He would have done anything for you guys, his heart was with you always, he loved sharing his life with all of you. Ingram his best friend, Billy his little buddy, Preston his "Clyde". The stories he has told over the years of your adventures were priceless to me and anyone else lucky enough to be there when he told his tales. Know each time you pull over a car, go to a break-in or a wreck that he will be there standing over your shoulder, keeping you safe ... he was that kind of police officer.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Malissa A.C. Sutton of the home; his mother, Wanda S. Coburn of LaGrange; stepfather, Charles Coburn of LaGrange; brother, Curtis G. Sutton of LaGrange; "favorite" sister-in-law, Robin Sutton of LaGrange; nephew, Dillon Fleming of Pikeville; niece, Deanna Fleming of LaGrange; and stepsister, Briget Rice of Farmville. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father Albert James "AJ" Sutton; his paternal grandparents, Mabel Rouse Sutton and Thomas Henry Sutton; and his maternal grandmother, Naomi T. Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with Dr. Gene Martin officiating. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.
Memorials may be made to Lenoir County SPCA, 2455 Rouse Road, Kinston, N.C. 28504.
