Jean Ingram Mills, 73, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in Wayne County to the late Raymond Carlton Ingram and Bessie Lee Howell Ingram. She will be remembered as a generous, caring, compassionate lady and loyal friend to many. The love in Jean's life was God, family and friends. Even during her battle with cancer, she never gave up or let go of her firm belief in the power of prayer. She will be missed by many. Jean was a faithful member of Eureka Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Eureka Christian Church, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Roy C. Mills; her sons and daughter-in-law, Roy Wayne Mills and wife, Donna, of Goldsboro and Randy Lee Mills of Goldsboro; her sister, Edna Thornton of Mount Olive; her brother, Carroll Ingram of Goldsboro; and her granddaughters, Pamela Jean M. Stewart and husband, Daniel, of Goldsboro and Donnarie Mills of Greenville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sisters, Dale Lewis and Gale Ingram.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center for Research, DUMC, P.O. Box 3814, Durham, N.C. 27710 or to Eureka Christian Church, 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, N.C. 28365.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 384 Mills Road, Goldsboro.
