SNOW HILL -- Robbie Thomas Smith, 59, passed away Monday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital following an extended battle with cancer. Mr. Smith was born the son of the late Rudolph Thomas Smith and Edna Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had retired after 28 years as a heavy equipment mechanic with N.C. Equipment Com-pany. He attended LaGrange Community Baptist Church and also Fort Run P.F.W.B. Church.
A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Fort Run P.F.W.B. Church with the Rev. Larry Turlington and the Rev. Dean Hightower officiating.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Annemarie Hoepf Smith of the home; sons, Karl Christopher Smith of Bay-boro, Patrick N. Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andreas J. Smith and wife, Candace, of Snow Hill, and Joshua C. Smith of Snow Hill; mother, Edna Smith Moody of Snow Hill; sister, Carol Gurganus and husband, Melvin, of Ahoskie; brothers, Johnny Smith and wife, Cindy, and Alan Smith and wife, Barbara, all of Snow Hill; and grandchildren, Gavin Kyle Smith, Anna Smith and Nicholas Smith.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday and other times at the home of Edna Smith Moody, 662 Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill.
