MASTER SGT. ROBERT EDGERTON
July 21, 1931 - June 13, 2007
Master Sgt. Robert Lee Edgerton, Retired U.S.A.F., 75, of 203 Goldleaf Drive, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Edgerton was born in Johnston County to the late Glenn Edgerton and Thelma Rose Edgerton. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and had also retired from Patetown Dixie with 20 years of service. Mr. Edgerton was a member of New Life Baptist Church and the Goldsboro Optimist Club. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed grilling for community functions and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Mondell officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens in Selma, with full military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Godwin Edgerton; his daughter, JoAnn Edgerton Daly and husband, Sherwood, of Goldsboro; his sons, Garry Edgerton and wife, Linda ,of Goldsboro and Larry Edgerton and wife, Bonnie, of Raleigh; his sisters, Linda Pittman of Columbia, S.C. and Nina K. Leaming of Richmond, Va.; his brothers, Bill Edgerton and Glenn Edgerton, both of Goldsboro, and Mike Edgerton of Richmond, Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Edgerton.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
