SEVEN SPRINGS -- Janet Mitchell Whitfield, 49, of 1513 Pineview Cemetery Road went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday. She was the daughter of Effie Anderson Mitchell and the late Herbert A. Mitchell of Dudley. In addition to her mother, Janet is survived by her loving husband, Rex Whitfield; a daughter, Crystal Rose of Goldsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Kelly Rose of Mount Olive; a step-daughter, Lisa W. Farrar of Seven Springs; four grandchildren, Ashley Rose, Jordon Huffman, Jacob Rose and Mason Rose; three sisters, Bonnie Arnette, Pam Lancaster of Dudley and Judith Flores of Fayetteville; three brothers, James Ray Mitchell, Donald Mitchell and Joseph Phill Mitchell, all of Dudley; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Mitchell.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery in Dudley, with Pastor Dennis Dedford officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral home in Mount Olive and at other times at the residence on Pineview Cemetery Road in Seven Springs.
