Charles Henry Bennerman, 72, died Thursday at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
His was the husband of Mary Furlow Bennerman of Wallace, who survives.
Seven children also survive.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Island Creek A.M.E. Church in Rose Hill. Burial will follow at Duplin Memorial Gardens in Wallace.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. today at Rose Hill Funeral Home in Rose Hill.
