Everett Richardson Proud, 86, a former resident of the Pines, died Friday evening at the Brian Center.
He was born in El Paso, Texas, to the late Alfred Richardson Proud and Edith Beach Proud. He was married to the late Josephine Carr Proud. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and was a retired nuclear scientist. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the garden of St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Homer Morris officiating. A private interment will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.
He is survived by his sons, James Richardson Proud of San Francisco, Calif., and Steven Everett Proud of Boiling Brook, Ill.; his daughter, Susan P. Reynolds of Enterprise, Ala.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or to the Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro, P.O. Box 1064, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533-1064.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service in the parlor of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
